Al is currently filming 'You Don't Know Jack', which follows the life of doctor-assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian. Kevorkian, now 81, helped an estimated 130 people end their lives and was subsequently convicted of second-degree murder. He was released from prison in 2007 and now occasionally gives lectures.
Co-stars include Susan Sarandon, John Goodman, Danny Huston, Brenda Vaccaro, and directed by Barry Levinson. The television movie for HBO is expected to be a black comedy... not quite sure how that's going to work?! Scheduled to premiere in 2010.
Currently Filming: You Don't Know Jack (2009) - Al/Dr. Jack Kevorkian
Pre-Production: Mary Mother of Christ (2010) - Al Pacino/Herod
Possible Future Projects: Dali & I: The Surreal Story Rififi Blink - Based on Malcolm Gladwell's nonfiction bestseller. The script by Stephen Gaghan ("Traffic," "Syriana"), who is also directing, will center on an older man and the twentysomething son he was never close to. After the two reconnect, the boy, an idealistic drifter who's teaching in a downtown New York school, and the father, a finance type living in Connecticut, must navigate their new relationship. The connection to the book is that the son has the Blink qualities that Gladwell discusses: He can size up people and situations on a dime. Recognizing this ability, his father wants to help the boy find himself while at the same time using him to make some dough on Wall Street.
Betsy and the Emperor - Al, who has long been interested in tackling the character of Napoleon, is set to play the French strongman in a movie based on the children's book "Betsy and the Emperor." The indie production is scheduled to start filming in late autumn. John Curran ("The Painted Veil") is attached to direct from an adaptation of Staton Rabin's book.
King Lear - producer Barry Navidi, who also worked with Al on Merchant of Venice, insists it has taken years to persuade Pacino to play the role - but is adamant it was worth the wait. He tells Variety, "Al (Pacino) has been offered this role many times over the years, but didn’t feel ready. Pacino will play the pre-Roman British monarch who loses everything due to his scheming daughters’ plots.
I believe the best way to describe me would be: I am a paradox of contradiction, but that's not entirely my fault, I am a Gemini after all... oh, and I'm pretty sure I qualify as a psychologists dream, or perhaps that should be nightmare?!
